Employment Services

Welcome to Employment Services!

Employment Services is where education and employment meet. Employment in the animal health care field is one of the primary purposes of the Veterinary Assistant Diploma Program. Our goal is to help Granville Business College students find employment by addressing the needs of both employers and students through the provision of recruitment and job search services.

Employers

Employment Services works with employers to help meet your recruitment needs.  As an employer, you will find our services an invaluable way to connect with our high quality candidates. Please post any jobs you have available on our Job Posting Board and call us for any specific needs you may have.

Individual Consultations

Career Advising
If you are uncertain as to your next career options or you know what you want but not how to achieve it, we can help you start or re-start your career planning. As the animal health care and pet industry is a dynamic and growing industry, we will not tell you the specific path that is best for you, but we can provide you with advice and suggest resources that you can then use to determine and pursue your next career options. Career advising appointments can be made by contacting the College at 604-683-8850.

Students and Alumni Services

Our employment services assist all students at the Granville Business College with career planning and job search issues. Services include job postings, a variety resume and career planning sessions, individual consultations, resources and information on the local job marketplace. Students have access to computers with Internet, printers, photocopiers, fax machines and resume resources. Job postings are updated on a daily basis on the online job board.

Critiquing of Resumes, Cover Letters and Application Forms
We are always available to help upgrade your resume. Bring a copy of your resume, cover letter or application form for advice on how to make it more effective. We can help ensure it is grammatically correct, error-free and targeted to the type of position you are seeking.

Job Search Advising
We will provide guidance to those who are having difficulty finding employment. By exploring reasons for the difficulties, we can get back on track with strategies and resources to conduct an effective job search.

Mock Interviews
Practice makes perfect. Prior to your appointment, provide us with a copy of your cover letter, resume and a description of the job for which you are being interviewed. A list of questions targeted to your job description will be developed and asked of you in an interview setting. Feedback will be provided at the end of the session.
